The honest verdict

Mbabane is not a sightseeing city: it is a practical base. The market, the main street and Swazi Plaza fit in half a day, and the valley's wildlife sanctuary and craft stalls are short drives away. The trips that go wrong are the road ones: the long transfer from King Mswati III International or from Johannesburg, night driving with animals on the road, and cash-only stalls. Sleep here, keep a car or driver, and plan the valley as day trips.
