Martinborough
One night is enough to taste the wine and walk the square; two if you add a vineyard lunch and a cycle tour. Day-trip from Wellington if you skip the cellar doors.
Martinborough is a Wairarapa wine town laid out in a Union Jack street plan. Its square, cellar doors and weekend farmers' market make it a half-day or overnight stop on a Wellington–Masterton loop. The town is quiet midweek and busy on summer Saturdays.
