Manicouagan is the western half of Quebec's North Shore: a single coastal highway, the St. Lawrence on one side and boreal forest on the other. Whale-watching in the estuary, the Daniel-Johnson dam inland, salmon rivers and long beaches. You need a car; buses exist but stop at the towns. Sleep in Baie-Comeau for the dam and services, in Tadoussac for whales and the fjord mouth.
