Mangpoo
মংপু
Skip unless you are a Rabindranath Tagore enthusiast: the Rabindra Bhavan museum takes 45 minutes; add 2 hours round-trip from Darjeeling by car.
Mangpoo is a tiny hill village southeast of Darjeeling, known only for Rabindra Bhavan, a museum dedicated to poet Rabindranath Tagore. The museum holds manuscripts, paintings and the palanquin used to carry Tagore on the muddy road. The village itself has no other sights, no restaurants and very few accommodation options. Most travellers skip it unless they have a specific interest in Tagore.
