Manama by district
Manama is a low, wide city of large blocks and highways along the north-east coast. The old core is Bab Al Bahrain, Government Avenue and the souq lanes behind it. East along the coast are Hoora, with the National Museum and Beit Al Quran, and Juffair, with the Al Fateh Grand Mosque and many hotels. South of the old core is Adliya, the arts and restaurant district. Muharraq, the old pearling capital and the airport island, is a separate island to the north-east, reached by causeway.
