Mampong
Mampong is a one-night stop for travellers exploring Ashanti-Kwahu: see the chief's palace, visit the craft villages, then move on to Kumasi or Sunyani.
Mampong is the administrative capital of the Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti region, set in a mountainous zone. It is an educational hub with several colleges and schools, and the seat of the Mamponghene, a senior chief in the Ashanti kingdom. Most travellers use it as a base for exploring the surrounding Ashanti-Kwahu area, not as a destination itself.
