Malinalco is a small Pueblo Mágico in Mexico State, about 1.5 h by bus from Mexico City, known for an Aztec temple cut into the hillside and for the pilgrimage church at Chalma. The town centre is compact and walkable; one full day covers the ruins and the plaza, two nights add Chalma or a hot-spring balneario. It is a weekend destination for people from Mexico City and Cuernavaca, so book ahead for Friday–Sunday.

Get around
The centre is compact and walkable; the archaeological zone is a short walk or taxi uphill from the plaza. Taxis wait at the sitio next to the zócalo; use one for Chalma. Buses from Mexico City arrive at the Flecha Roja terminal outside the centre.
