Mahad
Mahad is a half-day stop for Raigad Fort and the Gandharpale Caves, not a base. One night if you want to climb the fort at sunrise.
Mahad is a small market town in Raigad district, Maharashtra, 175 km from Mumbai and 105 km from Pune. Most travellers use it as a gateway to Raigad Fort, the 17th-century Maratha capital, and the nearby Buddhist caves. The town itself has a few temples and a lake, but the main draw is the fort climb.
