Machynlleth is a market town of about 2,200 people in Powys, Mid Wales, and the site of Owain Glyndŵr's 1404 parliament. The centre is walkable in 10–15 minutes end to end. Buses run from the clock tower to the Centre for Alternative Technology and along the A487 towards Aberystwyth; the Cambrian line links Machynlleth with Aberystwyth, Shrewsbury and Birmingham. For the reserves, Corris and the hill roads, a car is the practical option.
