How to get there
Lyon sits on the TGV network: roughly 2 hours from Paris, and direct lines from Marseille, Montpellier, Lille, Strasbourg and Geneva. Book 4–8 weeks ahead for the cheapest fares; walk-up tickets cost far more. From the airport, the Rhônexpress tram runs to Part-Dieu, and cheaper buses also connect the airport with the city centre — compare before you land.
Inside the city, TCL runs metro, tram, bus and funicular. Buy single tickets or a day pass from machines, or load a rechargeable card. The funicular up to Fourvière is part of the same network, so a day pass covers the climb as well as the ride back down.
Most of central Lyon is walkable: Presqu'île end to end is about 30 minutes on foot, and Vieux Lyon to Bellecour is roughly 20 minutes across the river.
