Luoding
罗定
Skip unless you have family ties or a specific interest in Nanjiang culture: half a day is enough for the old town and a douchi (fermented bean) tasting.
Luoding is a county-level city in northwest Guangdong, near the Guangxi border. It preserves Nanjiang folk culture, including Takishu song and temple fairs, and is known for its rice, douchi (fermented black beans) and wrinkled fish rot. The city has one small airport and sits off G324, about 3 hours by road from Guangzhou. Most travellers pass through on the way to Guangxi rather than stop.
