Lunenburg
Give Lunenburg one full day and one night: walk the Old Town grid, see the Fisheries Museum and Bluenose II, then leave before the tour buses return.
Lunenburg is a 1753 fishing town on Nova Scotia's South Shore whose Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site: the original British colonial grid and the 1800s wooden houses survive almost intact. It is small, walkable and best seen in a day and a night, with Halifax 1 h 45 min away by bus and about 1 h 30 min by car.

Get around
No public transport in town: everything in the Old Town is a 5–15 min walk on a compact grid. A car helps for Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay and beaches; the Maritime Bus stops in Chester and Bridgewater, not at every door.
