Luanco
Give Luanco one full day and one night as a beach-and-cider stop between Gijón and Cabo de Peñas; skip it as a base if you have no car.
Luanco is a fishing village and summer beach resort of about 5,400 people on the Asturian coast, 35 minutes by bus from Gijón. Two sandy beaches sit in the town itself, the maritime museum is small and cheap, and the surrounding coast — Bañugues, Cabo de Peñas, Candás — needs a car or a taxi. Most travellers use it as a one-night stop or a day trip, not a multi-day base.

Get around
The town is walkable end to end in about 15 minutes. For Bañugues, Cabo de Peñas and Candás you need a car, a taxi (Radio Taxi Luanco Gozón, +34 985 883333) or the occasional local bus. ALSA buses run roughly every 30 min to Gijón (35 min) and hourly to Oviedo (45 min); the old direct Avilés bus no longer runs, so change in Gijón. Renfe Cercanías C4 serves nearby Candás from Gijón, Avilés and Pravia.

Luanco is a small, low-crime resort and safe to walk at night. The real risks are cold Atlantic water and rip currents, high-tide flooding of the town beaches, and unlit coast roads if you drive after dark.
