Lorton is a Fairfax County community on I-95, about 30-40 min south of Washington, DC. Get around
A car is the practical choice: the sights sit along US-1, Lorton Road and Gunston Road, 5-15 min apart with no useful bus between them. Virginia Railway Express (VRE) commuter trains and Fairfax Connector buses serve Lorton VRE station, but they run mainly on weekday commuter schedules. Amtrak's Auto Train loads cars at Lorton Station on Lorton Road.
