Weather and what to pack
Summers are humid. July and August regularly push past 30 °C, and the humidex makes it feel hotter. Pack light clothing, a refillable water bottle and sun protection; most indoor spaces are strongly air-conditioned, so a light layer helps.
Winters are genuinely cold. January and February nights drop well below −10 °C, and snow stays on the ground for weeks. A proper winter coat, hat, gloves and waterproof boots are not optional if you are walking between the downtown core and the university district.
Spring and fall are the tricky seasons. A May or October day can start near freezing and finish near 20 °C. Layers, a rain shell and comfortable walking shoes cover almost everything.

Events and seasonal notes
Summer brings the outdoor season: festivals, patios and riverfront events, most of them concentrated in July and August. Fall is quieter but photogenic, with colour peaking in the Thames River valley and the surrounding parks in early to mid-October.
