Lomaiviti is the island group between Viti Levu and the Lau Islands, and it is not a beach-holiday substitute for the Mamanucas or Yasawas. Its one town, Levuka on Ovalau, was Fiji's colonial capital and is the reason most travellers come: a short, walkable waterfront of timber buildings, a museum and a harbour. The other islands are small, thinly served and mostly reached by local boat or by resort transfer. Come for two or three nights on Ovalau, or skip it if your trip is a resort week.

- May–October is drier and cooler; November–April is hotter, wetter and the cyclone season. Levuka sits on the wet windward side of Ovalau, so short showers are normal even in the dry months.
There is no strong reason to pick Lomaiviti over the Mamanucas for pure beach weather; the dry season matters mainly for boat crossings and diving visibility.
