Logan City sits between Brisbane and the Gold Coast on the M1, about 30 minutes from each. It is a spread-out suburban and semi-rural city of 64 suburbs, four Aboriginal country boundaries and 215 recorded cultural groups, with 950-plus parks and two rivers. Sights are thin and far apart; the reason to come is the koala centre and forest at Daisy Hill, the Beenleigh rum distillery, and cheap beds when Brisbane is booked out. Without a car, most of it is impractical.

Get around
Trains on the Brisbane–Gold Coast line stop at Beenleigh, Loganlea and Bethania; buses fill the gaps but are slow and infrequent on weekends. A car is the practical way to reach Daisy Hill, Carbrook and the rural edges. Cycle and walking trails exist along the Logan and Albert rivers.
