Llanelli is an industrial town of about 37,000 people 16 km west of Swansea, on the West Wales and Heart of Wales rail lines. Its draw is the coast: the Millennium Coastal Path, the WWT wetlands reserve and Pembrey Country Park, plus rugby at Parc y Scarlets. The town centre itself is small and quiet, so most travellers use it as a half-day or a base for the Carmarthenshire coast rather than a destination in its own right.

Get around
The centre is small enough to walk. First Cymru buses run to Swansea and Carmarthen and take contactless payment on board. Trains from Llanelli station reach Swansea in about 20 min and Carmarthen in about 40 min; the Heart of Wales line runs north to Shrewsbury. Taxis are licensed by Carmarthenshire County Council but are scarce, so book ahead. National Cycle Network routes 4 and 43 meet the town centre via a cycle path.
