Give Llandeilo one full day and one night: castles and a deer park by day, a small market town to walk in the evening. Two nights only if you walk.
Llandeilo is a small Carmarthenshire market town on the River Towy, on the Heart of Wales line between Swansea and Shrewsbury. Its reason to stop is the cluster around it: Dinefwr's park and castle, Carreg Cennen on its crag, Aberglasney's gardens and the ruins at Talley and Dryslwyn. The town itself is a short high street of independent shops, a handful of pubs and a couple of places to sleep. It suits a car, a slow day and a night, not a long stay.

Get around
The town is small enough to cover on foot; a town trail leaflet and boards guide you round the oldest streets. For Dinefwr, Carreg Cennen, Aberglasney, Talley and Dryslwyn you need a car, a taxi or a bike: buses between the villages are thin. Llandeilo and Ffairfach both have stops on the Heart of Wales line.
