Think of Ljubljana as a river town in three bands: the Old Town on the east and west banks of the Ljubljanica, the castle hill above, and the newer city to the north-west with Tivoli Park and the museums. The railway and bus station sit at the northern edge, about 15 minutes' walk from the Old Town.
