Lisnaskea is the second-largest town in County Fermanagh, a one-street Plantation town on the A34 between Enniskillen and the Republic's border. It has no rail, few beds and a main road with no bypass, but it sits beside Upper Lough Erne and its 150-plus islets, and it is the closest town to Crom Estate. Treat it as a 1-night waterside stop or a half-day from Enniskillen, not a multi-day base.

Get around

You need wheels: the sights are scattered over 10–15 km of lanes and the town has no rail. A bike works on the quieter roads. Ulsterbus 95 links Lisnaskea with Enniskillen (about 30 min) and continues to Newtownbutler and Clones, but only about five times Monday–Friday and three times on Saturday, so check the timetable before you rely on it.

A quiet rural town and one of the safer places in Northern Ireland; the real risks are the A34 through traffic, wet single-track lanes, and cold water if you swim or boat on the lough.
