Get around
Park at Chare End and walk: the village, priory and harbour are within 15 minutes on foot, the castle about 25 minutes. The lane from the causeway has no sidewalk, so cyclists and walkers need care. No public transport on the island itself.

- Northeasterly winds push the sea higher than the tables show.
- Stranded vehicles are usually written off; the refuge hut on the causeway is not a plan.
- Castle and priory opening can shift with the tides; check the day before.
- Mobile signal is basic and there is no 5G; download your crossing times and map.
Very low crime; the real risk is the tide. Cross only inside the posted window, never when water is on the road, and keep a phone with the crossing times saved.
