Limburg an der Lahn is a small Hesse town on the Lahn river with a compact medieval centre, a seven-tower cathedral on the hill and a stone bridge from the 1300s. It sits on the ICE line between Frankfurt and Cologne, so it works as a single overnight stop or a half-day break between the two cities.
