Skip Liaoyuan unless you have family or business in the city: one night is enough to see the Kuixing Tower and walk the Dongliao River.
Liaoyuan is a small industrial city in central Jilin, best known for its coal-mining history and the Kuixing Tower. Most travellers pass through on the way to Changchun or Siping. The city has a few parks and a riverside walk, but no major sights that justify a detour.
