Lefkada, town
Λευκάδα
Half a day to a full day: see the Venetian castle, walk the wooden-balcony streets and eat by the marina. Not a base for the island — stay near the beaches.
Lefkada town is the island's capital, a small port with a 14th-century Venetian castle, pastel-coloured anti-seismic houses and a pedestrian main street. Most visitors pass through on their way to the west-coast beaches. One afternoon covers the castle and the old quarter; you do not need a night here unless you arrive late.
