The Leelanau Peninsula is the pinky finger of Michigan's Lower Peninsula: a 40 km loop of M-22 linking small towns, two inland lakes, sand dunes and around a dozen wineries. There is no train and no airport on the peninsula, so you need a car. Sleep in one town and drive the loop; the whole circuit is about two hours without stops, which means every sight is within a half-day of every other.
