Leduc
Stay 1 night only if you have an early YEG flight; otherwise sleep in Edmonton and treat Leduc as a 2–3 hour stop at the Leduc No. 1 oilwell.
Leduc is a small city of about 30,000 people immediately south of Edmonton International Airport (YEG), on the Queen Elizabeth 2 Highway between Edmonton and Calgary. Its reason to exist for travellers is the airport: hotels here are cheaper than downtown Edmonton and 5 minutes from the terminal. The one sight worth a detour is the Leduc No. 1 oilwell site in the county, where Alberta's oil boom began in February 1947. Downtown is a short main street with restaurants and a manmade lake at City Hall. If you are not flying, there is little here that Edmonton does not do better.

Get around
Leduc is car-first: the QE2 (Hwy 2) runs through it, downtown to the airport is about 5 minutes, and the oilwell site is about a 15-minute drive. Leduc Transit covers the city plus an hourly airport run and an on-demand service on weekdays; taxis are cheap over these distances. Multiway trails along Telford Lake are good for walking and biking in summer.
