Langeland
Give Langeland 2 nights by car or 1 long day by bus from Svendborg: it is a 50 km island of harbours, a Cold War fort and beaches, not a town.
Langeland is a 50 km island in the South Funen Archipelago, linked to Funen by bridge and home to about 12,000 people. Rudkøbing is the only real town; the rest is farmland, small harbours and coast. Two nights with a car covers it; without a car you see Rudkøbing and one or two coast stops in a day.

Get around
Fynbus lines 911–914 run Svendborg–Rudkøbing in about 30 min, roughly every 30 min at peak and hourly in the evening. On the island, buses are thin and a car or bike is the practical way to reach the coast; bike rental is in Rudkøbing. Ferries leave Spodsbjerg for Lolland and Rudkøbing for Strynø and Marstal on Ærø.

Very safe. The real risks are unlit country roads at night, cyclists on narrow lanes, and cold water on the beaches: swim near others and watch the wind.
