Landgraaf
Go only with a reason: a Pinkpop ticket, an indoor ski session or a night between Heerlen and Aachen. Otherwise sleep in Heerlen and day-trip in.
Landgraaf is a small former mining town in the Parkstad Limburg cluster of South Limburg, about 38,000 people, and it is not a sightseeing town. It has two anchors: Snowworld, one of the largest indoor ski slopes in Europe, and Pinkpop, a three-day festival held over the Pentecost weekend. Trains run to Heerlen, Kerkrade, Maastricht and Aachen, so it works as a cheap, quiet bed for the region rather than a destination in itself.
