The Lake Erie Shore is Ontario's north-shore beach belt: Port Stanley, Port Dover, Port Burwell, Turkey Point and Long Point, spread across Elgin, Norfolk, Haldimand and Brant counties. There is no one centre. Sleep in Port Stanley for the railway and theatre, in Port Dover for the harbour and food, and drive between them — public transit here is a weekday commuter service, not a sightseeing network.

- Beaches are the draw and the bottleneck: on a hot July or August weekend, Port Stanley and Port Dover fill by late morning.

- Lake Erie water is shallow and warms earlier than Lake Huron or Ontario, but beach water quality advisories do occur after heavy rain — check before swimming.

- The mildest, longest growing season in Ontario; beaches run late June to early September. October is fair weather and pumpkin-festival season. Winter is quiet, with many seasonal businesses closed.
Summer weekends are the crowd peak; book beach-town rooms weeks ahead for July and August.
