Lake City sits where I-75 meets I-10, which is why most travellers see it at all: it is a fuel, food and bed stop between Atlanta and Orlando or Tallahassee and Jacksonville. Get around
You need a car. Downtown is walkable for an hour or two, but the springs, Big Shoals and the forest are 20–40 min out on US-41, US-441 or county roads. Greyhound stops in town for anyone arriving without a vehicle.
