La Junta is a small town on Colorado's Eastern Plains, best known as the gateway to Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site, a reconstructed 1840s trading post on the Santa Fe Trail. The town itself has a good Native American museum and a few local restaurants. Most travellers come by Amtrak or car and spend 2–4 hours here.
