Northern Cyprus ↗Entering the island through the north (Ercan or northern ports) is treated as illegal entry by the Republic of Cyprus; if you plan to visit the south as well, arrive through Larnaca or Paphos.

The Kyrenia district is one harbour base and a few short trips. The castles and the abbey are close by road but not by bus, and the entry route decides whether you can also visit the south. Keep the Kyrenia bed, take taxis for the villages and castles, and check your own government's advice for the whole island.
