Kunduz
قندوز
Kunduz is a skip for most travellers: the city has few sights, security is volatile, and the rebuilt road from Pol-e Khomri is the only reason to pass through. If you must go, half a day is enough.
Kunduz is a provincial capital in northeast Afghanistan, historically a trade hub, but the 2026 security situation makes it a destination only for those with a specific reason to be there. The city has no tourist infrastructure, a handful of mosques and a traffic square, and the main draw is the road itself. Most visitors pass through en route to Mazar-e Sharif or Taloqan.
