Kuldīga is a small Venta River town in Kurzeme whose 17th- and 18th-century centre joined the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2023. The sights sit in one walkable cluster around the brick bridge and the Venta Rapid, Europe's widest waterfall. It works as one night on a Kurzeme loop, or a long day trip if you have a car.

- The Alekšupīte waterfall is artificial and small; don't plan a trip around it alone.
Very safe for a town of this size; the real risks are uneven cobblestones, slippery riverbank stones at the rapid, and unlit roads out to the sand caves after dark.
