Krimml
Go for a half-day to see Europe's highest waterfall; one night if you want to hike the full trail to the top and back.
Krimml is a small village in the Pinzgau valley at the edge of Hohe Tauern National Park. Its main draw is the Krimmler Wasserfälle, a 380 m three-tier waterfall. Most visitors come for a few hours, walk to the base or the top, and leave. The village itself has a handful of restaurants and hotels, but no nightlife or major sights beyond the falls.
