Kovilpatti
கோவில்பட்டி
Skip Kovilpatti unless you're driving the Madurai–Tirunelveli highway and want a quick lunch stop for the local sweet kadalaimittai: half a day is enough.
Kovilpatti is a market town on NH-44, known across Tamil Nadu for its match factories and the peanut-based sweet kadalaimittai. It has a few temples and a theatre, but no major sights that justify a dedicated trip. Most travellers pass through on the way to Thoothukudi, Tiruchendur or Kanyakumari.
