Konso
One night is enough: see the UNESCO terraced hillsides and walled villages, then move on to Arba Minch or the Omo Valley.
Konso is a UNESCO World Heritage site (2011) known for its dry-stone terraced fields and fortified hilltop villages. The town itself is small — built around a roundabout — but the surrounding cultural landscape, waga ancestor statues and the 'New York' canyon make it a worthwhile half-day stop on a Southern Ethiopia itinerary. Most travellers stay one night.
