Kökar is Åland's southernmost municipality, about 220 residents on a main island of rocky hills, broadleaf woods and Bronze Age and medieval remains. Ferries from Långnäs and Galtby land at Harparnäs; there is no regular bus, so you walk, rent a bike or book the demand-responsive service. Two nights covers the monastery ruins, the museum, the Kalen trail and one slow afternoon.

- Most museums, cafés and guesthouses close outside Jun–Aug; the museum opens by appointment off season.
- Källskär is reached only by seasonal guided boat trips; no scheduled service.
- The Kalen trail is rough and not suitable for small children.
Very safe; the real risks are slippery rocks on the trails, weather that turns fast on the water and services that shut outside summer. Tell someone your route on the longer walks.
