Kleinmond
Half a day to a day: walk the Blue Flag beach, spot whales from the cliffs and see the wild horses at the lagoon. Not a base — a stop between Cape Town and Hermanus or a quiet overnight.
Kleinmond is a small seaside town on the Overberg coast, 70 km from Cape Town. Its draw is the beach, the Bot River lagoon wild horses and southern right whales from June to November. Most travellers pass through in a few hours or stay one night as a low-key alternative to Hermanus.
