Kittur
ಕಿತ್ತೂರು
Half a day is enough for Kittur: see the fort and museum, then move on to Badami or Belgaum. Not a base.
Kittur is a small town in Northwestern Karnataka, famous for the 1824 rebellion of Rani Chennamma against the British East India Company. The main draw is the Kittur Fort and the Government Museum. Most travellers stop for 2–3 hours on the way to Badami, Hampi or Goa. The town has no notable nightlife or dining scene.
