Kit Carson
Skip unless you need a quick fuel or meal stop on US 40/287. The town has one museum and one restaurant; you can see everything in 30 minutes.
Kit Carson is a tiny farming town on the Eastern Plains of Colorado, population 233. Its only sight is the former Union Pacific depot turned museum. Most travellers pass through on the way to Denver or Kansas. There is no reason to stay overnight unless you are driving late and need a bed.
