Kingston is a small Roane County town on Watts Bar Lake, about 40 min west of Knoxville on I-40. It was a frontier post at Fort Southwest Point from 1792 and served as Tennessee's capital for a single day in 1807. Two things justify a stop: the reconstructed fort and the lakefront city park. Everything else is a bed and a meal on the way through.
