Kilbirnie is a small Garnock Valley town of about 7,200 people, 30 km southwest of Glasgow, with a 15th-century kirk, a freshwater loch and a rail station one mile out at Glengarnock. It is a commuter town, not a sightseeing base: most travellers pass through on the Glasgow–Ayrshire line or stop briefly on the way to the coast ferries.

Get around
The centre is walkable and pavements run to the edge of town. Trains from Glengarnock (1 mile south) reach Glasgow Central in about 30 min and continue to Ayr, Ardrossan and Largs. Stagecoach X36 and 25 buses stop in town; there is no bus station.
