Khuldabad
Half-day stop from Aurangabad: see Aurangzeb's tomb and the mosque town, then continue to Ellora or Daulatabad. Not a base.
Khuldabad, 27 km north-west of Aurangabad, is known as the 'City of Mosques' and holds the tomb of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Most visitors pass through on the way to Ellora Caves. The town itself is small — a quick visit for history, then move on.
