Kerugoya
Half a day is enough: walk the market, see the county offices, then head to Mount Kenya or Nyeri. Not a base.
Kerugoya is the county headquarters of Kirinyaga, a market town on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya. It has no major tourist sights, but its daily market and agricultural setting give a quick look at highland life. Most travellers use it as a lunch stop or a short detour between Nairobi and the Mount Kenya region.
