Kennebunkport is a small harbour town on the southern Maine coast, about 30 minutes south of Portland and 90 minutes north of Boston. The centre is Dock Square: shops, galleries and restaurants within a few hundred metres. Beaches, the Bush family compound at Walker's Point and the fishing village of Cape Porpoise sit a short drive away. One full day covers the town; two nights let you add a beach morning and a Cape Porpoise lunch. Peak season is late June to early September, when Dock Square traffic can take ten minutes to cross 300 m. May–June and September–October give the same coastline with lighter crowds and lower room rates.

Get around
Dock Square is walkable; sidewalks end just outside the centre and roads are poorly lit at night. For beaches, Cape Porpoise and the trolley museum you need a car, bike or taxi. Taxis must be booked by phone, often 2 hours ahead. A seasonal trolley runs on a fixed route in summer (check the current route and fare). Route 1 and the Maine Turnpike (I-95) connect the coast towns.
