Kemmannagundi
Half a day to one night: see Hebbe Falls, walk the coffee estates, then move on to Chikmagalur or Sringeri. Not a base.
Kemmannagundi is a small hill station in the Baba Budan Giri range, 55 km north of Chikmagalur. At 1,434 m, it was the summer retreat of the Wodeyar king. The main draw is Hebbe Falls, a 20-minute walk through a coffee estate. Most travellers stop for a few hours on the way between Chikmagalur and Sringeri.
