The centre is walkable: Abbey to Square is about 5 minutes, Square to Floors Castle about 25 minutes on foot. There is no bus along the Mellerstain road, and Roxburgh Castle is a 1-mile walk. For Mellerstain, Smailholm, Greenknowe and Hume Castle you need a car or a taxi.
