Kayamkulam
Half a day is enough: see Krishnapuram Palace, walk the Oachira temple grounds, then move on to Alappuzha or Kollam.
Kayamkulam is a small town on Kerala's backwater belt, midway between Alappuzha and Kollam. Its main draw is the 18th-century Krishnapuram Palace, plus the Oachira temple and a few local festivals. Most travellers pass through on the way to the backwaters or the coast.
